K. Dupuis (re your Genforum message no.1123 of Nov.04/01) The most common spelling of the name is Onésime. You have now met one in the Dupuis line. He was Onésime Dupuis, son of Léandre Dupuis and his 2nd wife, Modeste Gilbert. Onésime married Cénophée Trépanier on Feb. 5th, 1866, in St-Victoire de Beauce in the Province of Québec, Canada. He was descended from the first Dupuis to settle in Acadia, Michel Dupuis. I am descended from another son of Michel, Pierre Dupuis. Some claim that Michel was not the first Dupuis to arrive in Acadia, opting for a Martin Dupuis, father of Michel, who is said to have arrived from France with his wife, Perrine Therriot. It is then added that Michel was born in La Hève, Acadia. This may well be, but the only record of this couple that I could find was in Father Léopold Lanctôt's book "Familles Acadiennes", Tome I and a mention in "Les déclarations à Belle-île-en-Mer". I could not find this corroborated by modernday genealogists, so I am sticking with Michel for the time being. I have asked for others to tell me of additional sources but have not yet rec'd any. Best regards, Lorenzo Dupuis
