Both sides of my family are descended from Simon Cardwell of Georgia. One of his descendents was Benjamin Walter Dupree the son of Thomas C. Dupree and his wife Allis J. Cardwell. This might be the B. W. Dupree you're looking for. He was born Dec. 19, 1872. He died Aug. 1, 1957. He is buried in Childersburg Cemetery, Talledega, Al. My records indecate he was married twice. His first wife was Minnie Lovett. They were married Jan. 14, 1894. To my knowledge, they had three children Thomas (C?), Emmit Cleveland, and Walter David. Minnie died Dec. 3, 1915 and is also buried in Childersburg Cemetery. With a birth date of Dec. 19, 1872 this would make him 49 years old the year you said your B. W. Dupree married Mary Collins. Since his first wife Minnie died in 1915 that would leave him seven years to find another wife. What I am not sure of is whether or not Mary Ethleen was an only child. My records and Dupree family members indicate that our Benjamin Dupree had three children that we know about, and I have no birth dates for them. Their names are Bennie, J. T.,and Annie. Depending upon their birth dates they could have been the children of our Benjamin W. Dupree and Mary Collins since they were married for a little over five years before she died. I hope this helps and proves to be true because it would fill in information about our genealogy also. My best to you.
