I have just had some email correspondence with Frank Fourqurean about the background of Janne - mother of Jane Livereau who married John Roberts (Will 1776). He suggests strongly that the Will of Jean Dupré has been misinterpreted by many researchers including myself. I have reviewed his position - compared it to the records I have accumulated - and decided that he is right. He contends that the Janne named in the will of Jean Dupré as his wife IS Janne who married first Fourqurean, then Livereau - and thirdly Dupré himself - rather than another daughter, sister of Mary. Mary (who is left land) is Jean's daughter by his first wife also named Mary. He leaves his plantaion house and 1/2 of his land to his wife Janne - and after her death - to his brother Lewis. He then names Jane Leuro, Moses Forqurand and Peter Forqurand and leaves each of them a slave. These are Janne's children by her marriages to Jean Forqurean and Moises Livereau. After Dupré's death, Janne appears as Janne Dupré - and is listed in the tax records as paying taxes for one of her Forqurean sons. In the years immediately following his death, she is called "The Widow Dupré." This makes sense to me. I have worked on a timeline that covers these folks through the critical years. I will be happy to share it with anyone who contacts me. It is surely not exhaustive - but I think it goes a long way in supporting Frank's idea that - rather than being the daughter of Jean Dupré - the mother of John Robert's wife is actually Dupré's second wife - (he being her third husband). As a post script - Much later, the name of Janne Dupré Tevis appears in the King William Parish records. Would this be a 4th husband? I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about this whole thing.
