My company has a bronze artillery piece, a mortar, that's engraved "Captured by Rer. Adm. Dupont at Fernandina Fla. February 3rd. 1862." We're looking for any of the admiral's descendents who can tell us any more about this item. The item isn't huge but weighs about 400 lbs. I'd post a picture of it here but not sure if that's allowed, as I'm new to this forum.
