I'm a descendant of Charlotte Manby Villepontoux, dau. of Benjamin Villepontoux and Jane DuPont.
Am interested in Charlotte W. Villepontoux, dau. of Paul Villepontoux and Mary Gantlett? From postings on Rootsweb on Marriages I found Paul's marriage date to Mary as 12 Jun 1746. From postings to this forum & the LeSesne forum, and from further research, I've gathered that the children of Paul & Mary were as follows: Frances, c: 26 Apr 1747, Paul, c: 8 Apr 1750; both of these children christened in Christ Church Parish. Other children listed: Anne, b: abt 1752 & married James Stewart; Rebecca, b: abt 1756 & married Thomas Downey & had 2 children; John, c: 28 Dec 1758 in St James Santee Parish.
From former postings on Charlotte W. Villepontoux, I gathered that she must have been born abt 1772, since the posting on rootsweb stated: "James Lesesne Family Bible"
"Charlotte W. [orig. Charlotte Villepontoux widow of James
Lesesne wife of Gen. William J. Cowan of Bladen Co., NC] departed this life, on the 6th August 1846 age about 63 [Bladen Co., NC]"
Further research showed me that she had been married 3 times. 1st to John Boyd Harvey on 20 Sep 1797, 2nd to James LeSesne abt 1800, & 3rd to Gen. William J. Cowan on 12 Nov 1813. There are descendants from her second marriage.
Don't you think that maybe she was the daughter of Paul and Mary Villepontoux's son, Paul? Does anyone have any info to add to this and do they know who the son Paul married, or if Paul & Mary's son John married?
