Looking for any information about Gabriel DUPONT, his birthplace,
his parents, the ship he took to get here, etc. He was born
about 1813 in FRANCE. He appeared in New Orleans, LA around 1855.
He was a cooper by trade. In 1857, he married to Marie Louise
GRAND,in New Orleans. They had 8 children:
Bernard Jean (1857),
Louis Gabriel (1859),[Married 1st:Mary Puyroux 2nd:Amelia Mary MICHON
Marie Louise Josephine (1862),[Married Charles BEAVER]
Albert Jean Hypolite (1865),
Alexandre Elisea (1869),
Clementine (1872),[Married Joseph CONRAD, Jr.]
Jules (1876), and
Charles (1876)[NOTE: This Charles married the widow of his
brother Louis Gabriel - Amelia Mary MICHON. I am not aware
of any other marriage for him].
Gabriel died with yellow fever in 1878, along with 2 of his sons,
Albert & Alexandre. His wife,Marie Louise GRAND, remarried to a
Joseph DUPONT, son of Louis DUPONT and Genercuse FREDY. Joseph is
supposedly no relation to Gabriel, but I have not found verification
one way or the other.
Joseph DUPONT & Marie Louise had a daughter, Marie, who married
B. MARTELLO. I am pretty well aware of who most of the descendants
of Gabriel are, but I would like to find more on his ancestors.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'll be glad to help anyone
that I can.
