While I'm Not related to this family, I watched a show on TV about the DuPont's and it gave their history and how they were involved with 'black powder' for munitions etc.
It was Very Good. Quite a history. The show was called something like Empires and Industry. Some of you may have already seen it.
It talked about how they left Europe on a ship called the Golden Eagle that was not even supposed to be sea worthy it was in such bad need of repair. What was only suppposed to have been a month at sea took 90 days!! It was quite a story.
Just thought I'd post this here so those you related could keep your eyes out for that show.
