Dunnings in KY, MS, TX

My grandfather, Charles J. Dunning, (1882 - 1945) born near Dallas, Tx, the son of John M. Dunning and Elizabeth R. Knight. John and Elizabeth were both born about 1850 (give or take 5 years) somewhere in Mississippi. John's father, according to the IGI, was Jesse Dunning, married to a Malinda (no maiden name given) Dunning. Jesse was supposedly born in Kentucky, and I'm guessing sometime between 1820 and 1830. And there the trail ends. It seems there were quite a number of Dunnings parading between Kentucky and Texas back then, and I don't have the resources to sort out one trail over the next. I would like to trace the family back "across the pond", if possible. Any help would be appreceated. Thanks, Larry
