My gggrandfather was George Henry Dunning born 1840 in NewYork He married Clara Truax and they moved to Muskegon Michigan from New York about 1870.

One of their children was Ernest Willard Dunning born 9-15-1876. He married a Mary Brige/Cocharn in Louisianna. I do not hace any information on their children perhaps one is the Joseph Manning you seek.

I believe the rest of the children stayed in Michigan but I am unsure of what happened to Stephen Alfred Dunning who was born in 1881. That should give you a couple of names to check on though
