Hi Kandi,

There are many, many spellings of our name. Based on about 20 years of research, I just recognize that we are all likely related to one another. My grandfather changed our name from Dunnavant to Dunavant when he moved from TN to TX in the late 1800. If you look at documents you will find many variations. I looked at a marriage bond from 1816 and it was signed by my great, great grandfather with an X. He could not read or write. It made me think, I wonder how I would spell Dunavant if I had never see the name and just had to go on someone speaking the name. What about if they had a dialect or accent? Then I thought, there may be many more spelling than I have seen. Maybe we should start a list?
Have a great day "cousin".

Austin, TX
