Joel Dunnavant and Hodges Dunnavant are both listed as Patriots by the DAR and the SAR and their sevice is listed in the Virginia Soldiers of the American Revolution (Eckenrode). If you look at the early Mecklenburg County VA personal property tax lists starting in 1806 and for the next several years, you will find that Thomas, John and Anthony are listed as "sons over 16". Also listed is Jenny as "over 16".
If you want to "prove" a patriot line through Peter Dunnavant, that can be done by 1)his marriage bond to Mary Marriott Mitchell, 2)the 1808 Mecklenburg County VA will of her father, William Mitchell where Mary is listed as "Polly", 3)the Mecklenburg County VA marriage bond for William Mitchell and Elizabeth Warren, 4) and the Mecklenburg County VA Patriots list where William Mitchell's service and provision are listed.
If you have "proof" of Joel's relationship to Peter, Abel Burton, Walter, William or Francis W. I would love to hear about it.
