James R. Dunn, 74, of Kingsport, went home to be with the
Lord early Sunday morning, February 19, 2012, at Wellmont
Holston Valley Medical Center after and long illness,
Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN.
He was born in Scott Co VA, and he lived in Kingsport most
of his life. Mr. Dunn was a former employee of Bartlett
Tree experts as a tree trimmer. He was of the Holiness
faith. Mr. Dunn greatly loved and cherished all his grand-
children, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Laura
Hicks Dunn; four sisters, Mollie Jones, Osha Hensley,
Geneva Jones, and Grace Bright; brother, Buddy Dunn; and
two beloved sons, Leroy Weaver and Mike Cross.
He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Hall and husband
Johnny, of Church Hill, TN, Linda Louise Begley and husband
Jack, of Kingsport, TN, Tammy Dunn and husband Kenneth
Johnson, Jr., of Kingsport, TN, Crystal Cowden and husband
Eli, of Kingsport, TN, and Kristina Vaughn and husband
Shane, of Kingsport, TN; son, Junior Weaver and wife Karen,
of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Blake Vaughn, Ethan
Vaughn, Jennifer Gragg, Jessica Gragg, Andrew Holt, Laura
Gragg, Cody Weaver, Randall Mathew, Tasha Webb, Brandon
McGuire, and Emma Johnson (due in April); several great
grandchildren, along with a great grandson due in March;
sister, Ethel Henry, of Kingsport, TN; several nieces and
nephews; first wife and mother of his children, Linda
Cross, of Kingsport, TN; and special long time family
friend, Wayne Medlin and wife Linda.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m., on
Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home,
520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.
A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., in the funeral
home chapel, with Pastor Paul Brickey officiating. Music
will be provided by Laura and Tasha.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving
the Dunn family.
