In 1819 John Dunn bought 162 acres, and 153 acres from
from Joseph Patterson and his wife, Nancy, who were from Tuscaloosa county, Alabama. This land was located in Elbert county, Ga., on the Savannah River,(Deed Book W page 158). In 1825 citizens petitioned the Inferior Court to build a road from Dunn's Ferry on the Savannah River to the Franklin Road, (Inferior Court Minutes, 1809-1850, page 96). In the 1821 land lottery, John Dunn drew land in Fayette county, Ga., while living in Wards District, Elbert county, Ga. In 1824, Fayette county, Ga., John Dunn married Rachel Edwards, and John Dunn Jr. married Patsey Lambert.
