I had a look at your website, and it looks like a lot of work has been done already. I don't have any more direct information that would help, but I just finished reading a really good book that says when you run into brick walls (don't we all!), follow the associates of your ancestors, or their "community".
Based on that, the witnesses to Henry C. Dunn's marriage (Frank Valentine and Eliza Rush) might be your best bet, if you haven't already done so. I did notice that there was also a John H. Dunn who married a Sarah A. Tucker in LaVaca County in 1869, and that a John Dunn was a witness for the marriage of Hillary Tucker and Mrs. Ellen Vallentine in 1871.
Is it possible this John H. Dunn is a brother or other relative?
