Here is something that might be of interest to some of the Dunn researchers. I was looking at the Dunn Y-DNA results on their project website. I found that six of the Dunns matched my McClendons on 27 of 37 markers. All of our McClendons/McLendons match very closely, 36 of 37 markers. We McClendons/McLendons all likely do descend from the same man, Dennis McClendon of Perquimens, NC., who immigrated America by 1690, and there are records that indicate that he brought Dunns with him. I am thinking that the McClendons and the Dunns share a common male ancestor back in Scotland or Ireland. Also, there were at least 4 early Dunn/McClendon marriages in North Carolina, amongst the descendants of Dennis McClendon the immigrant: 1. Benjamin Dunn married Jemima McClendon, b. 1752, daughter of Jacob McClendon and Martha Travis. 2. Lucy Dunn, b. 1724 Anson Co., NC. married John McClendon, b. 1722 Perquimens, NC., son of Thomas McClendon and Elizabeth Bush. 3. Martha Dunn married Dennis McClendon, b. 1702 NC., son of Dennis McClendon and Mary Early. 4. Mary Dunn, b. 1748 Anson Co., NC. married Ezekial McClendon, b. 1748 Cumberland Co., NC., son of Dennis D. McClendon and Mary Ingram.
