The reason the peroson did not find Carrie Ellen with her parents in the 1900 census is that she had already married and had a child with her
new husband and they were listed together. According to that census, she was born July 1880, after the 1880 census had been taken. The
1880 census for Tennesse no longer exists, so you aren't going to find her withher parents on any census. I suggest, since she was under 18
when she married (1897 or 1898) that you might find a parent's consent with the marriage license at the court house. If that fails, you might be able to find her in her father's will.In the 1880 census there weas this Dunn family in McMinn Co.
Household:
Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
Abram DUNN Self M Male W 42 AL Farmer TN TN
Susan DUNN Wife M Female W 40 TN Keeping House NC NC
Thomas DUNN Son S Male W 3 TN AL TN
David DUNN Son S Male W 2 TN AL TN
Margaret WELLS MotherL W Female W 80 NC NC NC
Source Information:
Census Place District 14, Mc Minn, Tennessee
Family History Library Film 1255268
NA Film Number T9-1268
Page Number 408C
But he seems to have died by 1900 - not listed in any state.
Of course it is possible that she was born elsewhere in TN and moved to McMinn Co. before she married. In the 1900 McMinn Co. census there were only two Dunn families old enough to have been her father, a Dennis 37 and a Joseph M 70, both of which lived in the same 6th district as the Fain's. For what it is worth there is a John D. Fain family just above William and Carrie that might be his parents.
Hope this helps,
