Mr. Edgar Lee Dunn Sr., 81, of Tarboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 at 2:45 p.m. at Beverly Healthcare, Tarboro. His health had been declining for several years, with the last two weeks were critical.
Dunn was born in Alamance County to the late James Marvin Dunn and the late Carra Benner Dunn. Dunn was a retired maintenance electrician for the City of Burlington.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Burlington where he was a former Elder, Sunday School Superintendent, Boy Scout Chairman, an associate member of St. James United Methodist Church, Tarboro and a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa K. Dunn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Rich & Thompson Chapel, Burlington with the Rev. Powell Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Murray Dunn of the home; daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Dunn Holmes of Franklinton, Mrs. Susan Dunn Kernodle and her husband, Robert of Tarboro; a son, Mr. Edgar Lee Dunn Jr. and his wife, Mary of Elon; a sister, Mrs. Mary Parnell of Graham; a brother, Mr. James M. Dunn of Burlington; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6-8 p.m. Friday and other times at the residence of a brother-in-law, James H. Murray in Burlington.
