My ggg-grandfather was Septimus Dunlap, born abt. 1800. He was married to Esther Stokely, born 1808. They lived in Mercer County, PA and had at least four children, one of whom was my gg-grandfather, Benjamin Stokely Dunlap, born 1834. Septimus' father may have been John Dunlap, as I find a man of this name and in the correct age range to be the father of Septimus, living next door. This was in the 1830 census. There is another man who is the neighbor of both. His name was Samuel Dunlap, and he is in the correct age range to have been the brother of Septimus. They all seem to disappear after 1840, although Benjamin Stokely Dunlap shows up in the Mahoning Co. OH census of 1870.
I am hoping the names or place rings a bell with someone. The Stokely family is very well researched, but I cannot seem to get back any further with the Dunlaps than Septimus.
