That may be the John MERRYMAN [1] who transported to Virginia his wife Audrey by 1649 [GREER's Early VA Immigrants, p. 225]. John MERRYMAN died in Virginia by 1680. Widow Audrey m. Edward CARTER in Lancaster Co., VA.

Lancaster Co. deed, 10 Nov. 1680, from Wm. & John MERRYMAN, sons of John, decd., & Edward CARTER & Audrie, his wife, widow of John MERRYMAN, to Lt. Col. Jno. CARTER & Capt. David FOX, for the use of the county to establish a town, 50 a. of a patent of 14 Nov. 1649, to sd. John MERRIMAN, decd. [VA Hist. Mag., 5:430].

Charles MERRYMAN [2] (ca. 1656, VA - 22 Dec. 1725, Balto. That's as far as the article by CULVER followed this direct line. Robert BARNES' Balto. Co. Families, 1659 - 1759, says that John MERRYMAN was church warden of St. Mary's Parish, Lancaster Co., VA. He notes that there was also an Elizabeth, b. by 1652, mentioned in wills of Gyles TAVERNER, 1655, & John BONNY, 1666. Charles' dau. Eliz., who m1. Charles MERRYMAN [3] m. by 24 Je. 1702, Jane, widow of Joseph PEAKE and daughter of Jane LONG, probably by Jane's second husband Maj. Thos. LONG.

Dutton LANE made his will in 1713, leaving part of "Hampton Court" to dau. Margaret.

That's as far as R. BARNES followed this line.

Bill & Martha REAMY, Records of St. Paul's, Balto.:

Can you add anything for the MERRYMAN family so far?
