The only Edward Dunham in the National Archives Pension Records is the one b. 14 Jul 1753 in Great Nine Partners (a land patent, no place of that name), Dutchess Co., NY, d. 14 Jul 1844 in Henrietta, Monroe Co. (originally Ontario), NY, m.(2) Mary (Ridley) Dannak/Dannals/Daniel 17 Nov 1802, Smithfield, Madison Co., NY. Name of 1st wife unknown.Edward had by 2nd marriage:Edward, Jr., Seneca and Sophia.Edward and Seneca went west to Ontario and Orleans Co's.Edward returned to Henrietta, NY; Seneca went to Michigan.Edward's grandson, Albert Seneca Dunham m. Amelia R. Dunham 25 Dec 1865 in Plainwell, Allegan Co., MI. They were said to be cousins and their relationship is my Dunham Puzzle. Edward is said to have been one of 8 sons, 4 Patriots and 4 Tories (no names given).I want to find his parents and siblings.Amelia was the daughter of Hartwell Dunham b. 23Aug 1822, poss. Watson Twp, Allegan Co., MI, d. 25 Jun 1898, bur. with wife Julia Hann Hurlburt in East Martin Cemetery, Martin, Allegan Co., MI.His Death Certificate says his father was David Dunham and mother was ________ Purson.I believe but haven't yet proved this David is bur. in Woodside Cemetery, Gun Plains/Plainwell, Allegan Co., NY with wife Sarah. Both died in 1865.My documentation is solid so far on these lines, but their relationship is yet to be proved.Family tradition says Seneca and Hartwell were half-brothers. I don't accept that but am sure there are some half relationships, e.g. Edward had 2 wives.A Silas Dunham with his relict is buried next to David Dunham. They were the only Dunhams I could find in Woodside Cemetery, although there are unmarked graves.Town clerk said records burned.I need Vital Records, Bible Records, Church Records, Land Records, Newspaper accounts or anything anyone knows about that would help.A cousin lives in Hartwell's home. His postal address is Hopkins, but it was Shelbyville (both in Allegan Co.) when my grandfather sent Hartwell word of the birth of my mother. My cousin has a beautiful portrait of Hartwell and has loaned me his title search, but he could not supply any genealogical information on our ancestry.I can't explain how the 2 lines grew apart, but they were unacquainted with each other when my mother visited with my family in Michigan, so we would visit one side and then the other. Each knew of the other, but they were unacquainted, although they were not very far apart but in different counties in Michigan.A David Dunham with a wife Sarah appears in the 1850 Census for Eaton County with sons Hartwell, Calvin and Benjamin nearby.David and Hartwell are in Allegan Co. in 1860.Hartwell is in Cooper, Kalamazoo County in 1860 and in Watson, Allegan Co., in 1870.Seneca is in Cooper, Kalamazoo Co., MI. Edward and Seneca are in Henrietta in 1840, Edward listed as a Rev. War Pensioner living with Seneca.Seneca is in Orleans Co., NY in 1850 and in 1860 and in Cooper, Kalamazoo Co., MI in 1870.His son, Albert Seneca, inherited the farm. Please exchange information with me if you are part of either of these Dunhams lines or can tell me if both are part of the same line.Betty Brown
