FamilySearch.org appears to have the family back to the immigrant [Deacon] John DUNHAM, who m2. at Leyden, Netherlands, Abigail BAILLIOU. The database of the 1880 Census, Carver, Plymouth, MA, has
DUNHAM, Ellis D{exter}, 38, worker in shoe factory; wf. Harriet A., 34; ch. Luella F., 15; Elwin L., 12; Elbridge F., 10; George W., 8; Curtis H., 6; & James R., 1; all b. MA.
Mother of Ellis was probably next-door in the household of George MORSE:Ruth {PRATT, wid/o James} DUNHAM, 75.
I'm not positive whether the name should be Eldridge or Elbridge. There was a surname ELBRIDGE, which was carried down to Elbridge GERRY (the source of the term gerrymander).
Samuel DUNHAM was not born in 1620.His parents married 22 Oct. 1622.The marriage record has been published with the original handwritten Dutch, the handwritten English translation, and a typed version.
Please let me know if you find the ancestry of John SMITH, father of Abigail, wf/o Ebenezer DUNHAM.My line includes Susannah HINCKLEY, who m. 1643, (Rev.) John SMITH.
