Elisha Dungan and wife, Lurania Tilson,(Thomas, William, Stephen, Edmund, Ephraim, Edmond) dau. of Thomas and Eunice (Hubbell) Tilson b. June 4, 1809. Elisha was from Smyth Co., Va. Their Children:
Eunice Dungan, b. Mar., 1827, in Smyth Co., VA; married A. D. Whteside
Sarah A. Dungan, b. March, 1830, in Franklin, Ind.; m. Wm Whiteside.
Charles Dungan, b. Feb., 1832, in Franklin, Ind.; m. Sarah Custsinger.
Margaret E. Dungan, b. Feb., 1834, in Franklin, Ind.: m. J. Calvin Covert
Frances E. Dungan, b. Dec., 1835, in Franklin, Ind.:m. N. H. Jones
Stephen W. Dungan, b. Feb.,1837, in Franklin, In; m. Martha Porterfield
Melissa Dungan, b. May 1839;m.John Tilson
Mary Josephine Dungan, b. Dec., 1844, in Franklin, Ind.; m. T. B. Wood.
James M. Dungan, b. Dec., l850, in Franklin, Ind.;m. Helen Silcott, Indianapolis
Elisha Dungan and wife emigrated to Indiana from Virginia about 1827, and settled on Hurricane Creek, Johnson Co., where they lived and died. They had 12 children, three died in infancy, Elisha Dungan was a popular man in Johnson Co., and had a reputation for honesty and justness of dealings whish is the best heritage a man can leave to his family. He was a Whig, and afterwards a strong Repulican. (From the book "The Tilson Genealogy")
My interest in this family is that it says on this site that James Pearce married a Margaret Dungan. My gg grandmother, Martha C. Wilcox (lETTICA, STEPHEN,WILLIAM, STEPHEN, EDMUND, EPHRAIM, EDMOND) DAU. OF jOHN AND lETTICA (tILSON) wILCOX, B. 1822; M. jAMES pIERCE OF jEFFERSON cO., tNN.children; eLIZA pIERCE, jOSEPH pIERCE, James W. Pierce, a Physician, Columbus P. Pierce, was in 13th Tnn.
