Herb,
I do not know how much help I will be, but will try.I have a Mary Caroline Dungan. I have not done too much research on her so do not know if the following dates are correct or not.
Mary Caroline was born 5 Nov 1859 probably in Delaware County, Indiana. She is the daughter of John White Dungan and Edith Dragoo.I have data on her parents.Edith Dragoo is the sister of my great, great, great grandmother Temperance Dragoo.
Edith is the daughter of William Dragoo and Elizabeth Prunty.Edith has a twin sister by the name of Elizabeth.
John White Dungan is the son of Benjamin Dungan and Elizabeth or Margaret Mitchell.I have that John was born 2 Jun in 1824 or 1825 in Fayette County, Indiana. He died 1 May 1903 in Delaware County, Indiana and is buried in Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie.
Edith died 14 Aug 1909 and is buried in same place.
They had children: George Edgar, Leonidas, Cornelia Ann, Isaac Walter or Walter R. , your Mary Caroline, Jessie F or Julia , Nettie, Harry E., and Willie.
Your Mary Caroline married a William A. Meeks about 17 Oct 1883 in Delaware County, Indiana.
I have a newspaper clipping (not original) that has a picture of Edith and her sister Elizabeth(Haines) that celebrates their 80th birthday. It says at the first of the article: "On last Friday Mrs. Will Meeks and Mrs. George Carmichael (this is sister of your Mary Caroline--she being Jessie/Julia), gave a beautifully appointed one o'clock luncheon at the home of Mrs. Meeks for their mother, Mrs. Edith Dungan, and her twin sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Haines, in celebration of their eightieth birthday anniversaries. The pictures of the honored guests at the age of 54, appeared on the place cards, and the above cut is a reproduction of the same.During the luncheon Mrs. W. W. Shirk, a niece of the sisters, read the following poem------------"
The poem is a delight and tells so much about their lives. If you are interested I will email you the poem or snail mail to you if you contact me by clicking on my name above. Also please post a message here about your knowledge of the family so it will also help others in their research.
Would enjoy hearing from you.
