Alfred Rudulph Justice in his "Ancestry of Jeremy Clarke of Rhode Island and Dungan Genealogy" (Franklin Printing Co., Phila., ca. 1923)on page 168 states:
"200. [numbers are those Justice assigned to each person so he could keep them straight] James Dungan, 90, son of Levi and Mary (Davis) Dungan, b. in Philadelphia, circa 1763, d. circa 1840, in Noble County, Ind. m. circa 1790, in Beaver County, Pa. Mary Brooks. He obtained a warrant for 300 acres of land in Washington County, Pa. Jan. 22, 1785 (24 [i.e., PA Archives], 3rd Ser., Vol. XXVI, p.551). Issue: (394-397) Rebecca, Mary, Nancy and Elizabeth."

On page 242 he continues:
"985. James Dungan Stockton, 394, son of William and Rebecca (Dungan) Stockton, m. - Elizabeth Kady. They removed from Iowa to California in 1859, where James Dungan Stockton died in 1906. An obituary states he was a cousin of Commodore Stockton. Issue: (2270-2274) Philip, Mary, Nelson, Charles and Elizabeth."
The entries on page 327 for the children (2270-2274) give no further information about any of the children: i.e., no middle names or initials, dates, locations, wives, children, etc.
