I am looking for any information about Guy M. Duncan, aka "The Great Duncan" who had a hypnotist act in the early part of the twentieth century (around 1910 and onward). He was married to Essie Fay (Duncan) who was a very famous wild animal trainer about the same time. Coshocton Daily Tribune, December 15, 1909, page 6 Coshocton, Ohio Duncan Hypnotic Company Here All Next Week Commencing Monday night, the Duncan Hypnotic Comedy Company will open a five nights engagement at the Sixth Street Theatre, introducing Prof. G. M. Duncan and his company of entertainers. During the engagement all the various phases of hypnotism will be demonstrated, also an exhibition in mental telepathy, which will be new in this vicinity, as no pads, confederates, words, signs or other means of conveying tests between the operator and the lady arc used. The Great Duncan has met with success throughout the west the past few years and since his advent into the Eastern cities the press has been praising his work very highly. While the demonstrator gives his exhibitions in a scientific manner, yet it is filled with comedy situations, and it is the aim of Duncan and his company to make the audiences laugh and the patrons of the theatre are assured of an amusing as well as interesting performance here next week. Ladies free under usual conditions. ****************************** The Coshocton Daily Times, December 21, 1909, page 6 Coshocton, Ohio THE GREAT DUNCAN Coshocton, already surfeited with hypnotic shows, found much to interest in the first performance of the Duncan Hypnotic Company . The show started with the awakening of Roy Brown from his 48 hour sleep, and shortly before its conclusion, a lady member of the company was sent to dreamland for -48 hours. Some good stunts were done in mental telepathy, while the hypnotic tests were full of the usual comedy and drollery. One of the most interesting features was the subjecting of one of the assistants to the very strongest hypnotic influences, making his body so rigid that four heavy persons were able to stand upon it. *********************************** The Piqua Daily Call, March 28, 1945, page 7 Piqua, Ohio TWENTY - FIVE YEARS AGO— The Great Duncan Hypnotic Comedy company will be presented at May's Opera House for one week, starting Monday. March 28th. Notify Administrator about this message?
