Robert, Two of Joshua Gordon's daughters, Hannah and Isabel, were my gg grandmothers (married Andy Spratt and William Jackson Harris). Joshua Gordon's homeplace was on my maternal grandfather's property on west side of six mile creek just above where Tar Kiln Branch enters. According to him the house burned around 1893-98 (he was born in 1885 and he said "I was just a little chap when it burned - an old black lady named Manda lived there."). There are piles of bricks and I have dug up nails, hinges, etc. His slave houses were just to the West of the house and the still house was between the house and the creek. I grew up less than a mile from there. We used to drink from his spring.
Do you have a copy of the poem "The Pilgrim or Jacobs Dream" that Hannah Dunbar memorized and several generations of girls memorized after her?
