I am from Marlboro County, formerly Marlborough District.I am pleased to know what happened to James [C] Dunbar. He disappeared from the Marlboro County records leaving no clues as to where he may have gone.
At the time that James [C.] Dunbar was residing in Marlboro County Daniel Dunbar, who appears to have been a contemporary of James C., was also residing in Marlboro County in the same area of the county. That area later became known as Dunbar.Daniel Dunbar had a son, Captain James C. Dunbar, who was a member of the home guard during the Civil War and Captain of the Marlboro Militia after the war.He was the person for whom Dunbar was named. At one time Dunbar was an incorporated town.He has many descendants.I am one of his descendants.
I assume that Daniel and James are related.Do you know where James was residing prior to coming to Marlboro?Do you know where he was born?Do you know who his parents were?Do you know if he was of Scottish origin or Scotch Irish?
