Dunaway Family Genealogy Forum

I have been scanning the GenWeb Forum Dunaway list and couldn't help but notice that you are descended from James and Winnifred Dunaway. This couple appears in early Camden County, Georgia and Nassau County, Florida census records. They are somehow related to my family on the Casey/Dunaway side. I am seeking information to help me discover the parents of my great great grandmother Elizabeth Dunway who married a Casey. They both died and left my great grandmother, Elizabeth "Betty" Casey an orphan. Betty Casey was rasied by Adeline King and William Casey of St Marys, Camden Co., Georgia. I have to assume this occured sometime before 1880 and after 1870 as Betty is not enumerated in the 1870 census records for the Casey household but does appear in the 1880 census records as a "10 year old school girl". Additionally, one of Adeline and William Casey's daugthers, Katherine "Kate" Casey married a James Dunaway of Nassau County, Florida. Kate and James Dunaway took over the raising of Betty Casey when Adeline Casey died sometime around 1882. My mother recalls visits from two Dunaway men, Uncle Wesley Dunaway and Uncle Dave Dunaway, to her mother in Brunswick in the early 1930s and 1940s. She says that as far as she knew Uncle Wesley and Uncle Dave Dunaway were her mother's uncles and they lived over in Nassau County, Florida. My grandmother was Annie Green Spalding...daughter of Betty Casey and Andrew Cornell "Connie" Green of St. Marys, Georgia. Annie Green married Paul Spaulding in St Marys and then they moved Brunswick around 1900. If any of this makes sense to you and you think we may be researching the same family(ies), I would love to hear from you! Please drop me a line at susan@petersnn.org thanks.
