I am seeking additional information on an Archibald M. Dunaway who married a Paulina Singleton in 1842 in Rutherford Co., TN. Archibald is not listed on the 1840 census in Rutherford although there are a William, Thomas, and Nancy listed.
On the 1850 Rutherford Co. census there are two young boys, Henry M., age 6, and James M. Dunaway, age 4, living with a Hazell Singleton in Gambill District. Are these the children of Archibald and Paulina? Did either or both parents die? On the 1860 census James M. Dunaway is living with other Singleton family members, but there is no sign of Henry M. Dunaway in the county.
There is no sign of an Archibald Dunaway on the 1850 census in Rutherford. Is he possibly the same Archibald Dunaway (born c. 1820, TN) who appears on the 1850 census in McCracken Co., KY recently married to Nancy Potter?
Any help in solving this puzzle would be appreciated.
