Do you have any other details on Major Dunaway? He isn't one that I have researched, but I have researched a lot of the Dunaway families in Pike and the adjacent counties. I did a bit of searching on "Family Search" and found a marriage record for Evaline Bullock to S. L. Dunoway on 3 December 1894 in Lincoln County, MS. This date works with the 1900 census data for Major Dunaway in Lawrence County, so is a posibility. My best guess at the moment is that he may be a part of the following family: Jonathan Y. Dunaway Jonathan Dunaway (born about 1824-1826 in MS, died before 1900), age 24 is listed on the 1850 census of Pike Co, MS, in the household of Jonathan and Epcey Thornhill. It’s possible that Epcey Thornhill was Jonathan Dunaway’s sister, but there is no way to prove it. She evidently died between 1850 & 1860. In 1860 Pike County Jonathan Dunaway is a single male age 35 living alone. Jonathan married S. E. [Sarah E.] about 1861. She was born about 1838 in MS, and died after 1910 [daughter of Evan & Nancy Thornhill?]. Parents are unknown, but only two Dunaway households listed on the 1840 Pike County census list a male in the 10 - 15 age range; Joseph Dunaway and Richmond Dunaway. Richmond Dunaway seems the most likely choice, but researchers do not show a Jonathan among his children. Children of Jonathan and S. E. Dunaway: N. A. (Female born 1862 MS) Richmond Young (born 1864 MS) S. L. (Male born 1866 MS) J. M. (Male born 1868) M. A. (Female born 1869) N. (Male born 1872 MS) G. W. (Male born 1874 MS) [probably the George W.
