Hi Will....

Thank you so much for all the information!! It was really extremely interesting.

I, too, am researching my Dunnaway/Dunaway line. My father was Virgil Noah Dunnaway married 1. Juanita Garvin 2. Juanita Williams (my mom). Dad was born 1915 [slocomb, al] & died 1998 [georgetown, sc]

my grandfather:
James Thomas Dunnaway[1879-1919] married Ada Arminnie/Minnie Posey.

my great-grandfather:
James W. Dun(n)away [1853- ?] married Lizzie Simmons.

I'm curious to know if you have run across any of these names? I can't seem to get past my great-grandfather...

My dad always said that they came from Georgia. I've found the Posey's there, but not finding the Dun(n)away's there. Slocomb is in the southeast corner of Alabama and just a hop from the FL/AL/GA line. Depending on how the state/county lines were drawn (and redrawn..), they could have been Georgia, Alabama or Florida originally.

Would love to trade information. Hope to hear from you soon.
