Although this Thomas Dulany (various spellings) apparently did emigrate from Ireland, a published source provides two different possibilities for his ancestral origins:
(1) native Irish, the surname originally having been O'Dubhshlaine
(2) French Huguenot, Thomas supposedly having been a descendant of Huguenot refugee Rev. William (Guillaume?) DeLaune (d.1610 in London) and his son Gideon (ca1565-1659)
Is there evidence to support one of these possibilities or some other possibility for his ancestry? Any thoughts welcome. Thanks!
