I have just been notified by the DAR that Enoch and Darling Duke were named as "natural born heirs" in Lewis Duke's will. This meant that they were illegitimate and Henry Nelson Duke "probably" bought their land in order to "bring it back" into the family. This may explain why Enoch and Darling were rumored not to have been listed in Evelyn's book 2 of the Dukes. I am still trying to prove that Henry is in the legitimate Duke line. Any information would be great.
