Looks as though I have another ancestry in common with you and Lynn; Swiss. My mother's great-grandmother, Sarah Francis Overhuls was descended from an Abraham Overholts (would have been Sarah's Great Grand father b. 175? in MD, m. 1767 Anna Witmore in Fredrick Co. MD - many different spellings - early settlers were oberhotls etc). Researchers of that family say the family originated in an area near Wald, they were Anabaptists and fled due to religious presecution.
Sarah's grandfather Mark Overhuls was born in Franklin Co, VA in 1780's and moved to Muhlenburg Co. KY, married a Mary Landis there in 1812. Mark, the Landis's and other German -Swiss descendants from VA and PA had settled in a community in Muhl Co. called Bremen.
I plan on going to Switzerland next May. I've never been there.
