Dugas Family Genealogy Forum

Firmin Dugas, husband of Martha Edwards, and his brother Joseph, who married Hannah Morgan, (both of St-Jacques l'Achigan) were the sons of Claude Dugas, Jr. and Sarah Chubb of Sturbridge, MA, and grandsons of Claude Dugas and Marie-Josčphe Melanson, who were exiled there during the Acadian exile. Their son Claude was the only child who stayed in the Massachusetts locality when the rest of the family returned to Quebec in 1766. An article on this family appears in the periodical Le Reveil Acadien (Acadian Cultural Society) entitled "Blaise Dugas, R.I.P." along with a follow-up on further information on this family, of which I was the editor at the time (I have since stepped down from this position). You can locate the exact issues and obtain copies of them at $6.00 each at the following web site: www.acadiancultural.org/ Just print out the order form and send it in to the Acadian Cultural Society with your check. The articles also contact all the vital records and the will of Claude Dugas, Jr. as documentation and proof that they two men were his sons. Dennis M. Boudreau, President of the ACS
