Hi Rick! I am Guy Charpentier, son of Jacqueline Dufour. My mother is one of the three daughters of Oscar Dufour and Dorilda Lemay. Oscar was a son of the first mariage of Joseph Dufour, but was brought up by Cecilia Lauzon, second wife of Joseph. Joseph was a carriage maker, who inherited the shop from his father Pierre, the first carriage maker of Bytown (established 1832). Oscar was married to Dorilda Lemay, also the daughter of an Ottawa carriage maker (her father had worked in Pembroke, where she was born, before moving to Ottawa). Oscar and Dorilda had 5 children: two sons (Lemay Oscar, deceased) and Pierre, who lives in San Diego, California) and three daughters (Gilberte (deceased), Claire, who lives in Willowdale, Ontario, and Jacqueline, my mother). Jacqueline married Georges Charpentier (deceased in 1990). They had 2 children: Monique, my younger sister, and Guy (myself). Monique and I live in Montreal. We often come to Ottawa, where my mother still lives in the family house bought more than 50 years ago. I have been doing research on the genealogy of the Dufour family for some 14 months. You may know that we are from the Pierre Dufour dit Bonvivant branch, from Saint-Malo (France). Pierre Dufour, a soldier of experience, married in 1737 in Montreal and moved to Detroit the following year, when Noyan became chief of Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit. One of his sons, Joachim, came back to Montreal and we descend from him. Best regards, Guy Notify Administrator about this message?
