Thank you for responding Christine. I too have looked at the possibility that Laurent Abraham is the same as Abraham Dufour. I have at my access the church records from St. Joachim. Yes, Laurent Abraham had a son Abraham born in 1815 and I believe the child died that same year. In 1818 Abraham Dufour(as listed in the St. Joachim church records)had a son named Abraham, also.

There were other Laurents in the area also. Sounds confusing. I am still not convinced that Laurent Abraham is the right person here. I am toying with the possibility that the Dufours may not have been Catholic. Abraham is not a common name in that parish, neither were some of the names of his children: Abraham, Ignace, Gilbert.

Thank you so much. Please keep me posted if you can shed more light on this genealogy mystery.
