Thank you, Cedric ........... I guess my next question then would be to understand what it means a bit more clearly. Would you guess that Quinchien would be the name the Valade family was known as or possibly a nickname for Archange? I believe I searched and found an area in Ontrio by the name 'Quinchien' ... pehaps the family was from that area and were known as the Valades 'from' Quinchien......!???

What's your best guess? Are you from this line of Dufours? My GGrandmother was Marie Susanne Dufour (b. 20 Oct 1851), the daughter of Pierre Dufour (B. 28 Oct. 1826 - d. ?), who was the son of Antoine Dufour who was born in 1795 and was a Captain in the war of 1812 (he married Archange Valade dit Quinchien). Antoine was the so of Jean-Baptiste Mathiau Dufour - who was the son of Pierre Bonvivant Dufour (b 1711 - came to Detroit in 1739) - who was the son of Pierre Mathurin Dufour (in France). I THINK I have this all straight but only discovered this line a short time ago.

Thanks again and regards -
Wilson
