Help please ----- what does that mean?
I am in the line of Antoine Dufour who married Archange Valade dit Quinchien ...... the were the parents of Pierre Dufour, the father of my Susanne Dufour..........

What is the significance/interpretation of that 'dit' in her name? (Doesn't 'dit' mean 'say'?)

merci!
(just about the extent of my French)

Wilson
