John Duffy was a member of the Royal Irish Constabluary (R.I.C.) He owned property in Cross and Edmondstown in County Roscommon, Ireland, we believe he brought his family to Steele's Terrace in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, from Roscommon. It is known that he had a son Fred (born 1901) and another son John (known as Jack or Jackie Duffy), and two daughters there (possibly Daisy and Bridget).
John "Jack" Duffy never married and spent his life in Steele's Tce. with his mother Mary. He worked for a company called Braids for a time.
His son Fred Duffy, an Irish teacher, IRA Officer and later a schools inspector, married Mary Russell and in Liscannor where they lived they had two sons. It is believed his first son, Fred, died in infancy, possibly even before he reached his first birthday. His second son, Fiachra, was born in 1935 (January 12th) and died in 1987 in Dublin. Fiachra's father Fred died in 1937 late of Clonroad, Ennis, County Clare. Fiachra's mother Mary Duffy Nee Russell married Kevin Collins a few years later.
Fiachra Duffy (Fiachra S. Ó Dubhthaigh 1935 to 1987) was my father and I am interested in finding out more about our Duffy family's history.
