Hello Roberta:

For Martin Duffy B 1839 +/- 4 yrs, somewhere in Ireland, with the father's forename unknown, I found 13 rcds: 1839 WSM, 1840 MAY, 1840 OFF, 2-1842 MAY, 1842 ROS, 2-1843 MAY, 1835 TIP, 1835 ROS, 1836 ROS, and 2-1837 ROS. The 1st born male was OFTEN given the forename of the father's father. In this case, it is Mathew. There is one 1837 ROScommon rcd where the father's forename is Mathew.

Will leave it to you to chase the rest of these rabbits.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
