Prizes to Old Citizens
Great interest was displayed throughout the day in the contest for the old settler's prizes. John Duffy, born in Batavia on December 25, 1855, and a resident of this city all his life, was given the Centennial Prize, a gold watch for being the oldest resident on the grounds in point of continuous residence. The watch will be inscribed "Batavia Centennial - Longest Resident - Dec. 25, 1855 to Sept. 4, 1933. John Duffy."
