Hello Mary, Thanks for your reply. My ggrandfather, Neil McLaughlin, chose Bernard as best man and then godfather in 1882 and 1883. The birthdate of Neil was 1857-1860(??!!), so I'm imagining they were near the same age and maybe they could have come over together. It may be a far reach. Neil had brothers here living right around and with him. The marriage took place at StJames the greater parish, downtown Boston. Fanny Gill was the other maid of honor/ godparent. I know what you mean by the naming patterns. My grandfather was the first born boy, and I'm wondering if he was named for your Bernard or the Bernard McLaughlin (or both) who was his godfather. He wasn't named Patrick for his grandfather, but all the other kids did follow the irish naming patterns. Thanks again for your response. I still don't have alot of info about Tullagh, so I'm just learning and seeking out good maps, etc. Linda McLaughlin LaFauci (lindalafauci@msn.com) Notify Administrator about this message?
