Thanks for your note. YOu asked about how I found out the name of the village that my Duffys came from.

I gathered up all the information I could about my Duffys here in the U.S. All I knew about where we came from in Ireland was what my grandfather said, "My mother was from County Mayo." That's it.

I had the names of my grandfather's 5-Irish born brothers, the names of his parents, and the names of his mother's parents. I sent all this to a professional genealogist in Ireland. I paid them around $350 (this was about 15 years ago).

In about a month, the genealogists sent me a report that included the civil birth registration certificates for my grandfather's 5-older Irish-born brothers and other civil records that indicated that they were from Kilcummin, County Mayo.
