Ella....I am helping my friend Anne with her genealogy research and her gg grandmother was named Margaret. We recently found thru a distant cousin of hers that Margaret's maiden name was Duffy. The earliest census record I have found Margaret in is the 1860 Lewis Co census. Margaret married John Lyttle, and Anne believes that they were married when they came to the US. In 1860, John and Margaret were Hotel keepers. The 1860 census shows them and all the boarders in the hotel at the time. Included in the census are 2 Duffy's, Michael age 28 and Bridget age 62. We are guessing that Michael is Margaret's brother and that Bridget is their mother. John and Margaret's eldest daughter was 2 months old at the time of the 1860 census. Please let me know if any of this sounds even remotely familiar. I will post this to genealogy.com and email you privately as well. hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks. Lu
