Hi Sammie,
You didn't include any dates on your Duffs in Guilford Co, NC.
Our Duffs had land bought there in the 1770s & sold from Washington Co, VA. Ours had come to Wn Co from Chester Co, PA around that time & don't know how the Guilford Co Duffs are related. All used the same names of Samuel, William, John & James! It's a mixup.!!
Duffs still in Wn Co have always maintained that they went from Scotland to Ireland during some troubling times, then later (next near or a generation?) sailed for PA, then later to VA. Named a proposed town on the middle Holston for where they sailed from in Ireland - Carrickfergus. But the Wn. co town didn't grow as the Irish one had.
Have county tax & land records. What primary data do you have ?
