DUWE--Germany--Iowa--Nebraska
Posted by: Donna Duwe Date: December 06, 1999 at 16:12:29
  of 26

Surname of DUWE, German in origin. However, my husband's family were from the Palatinate and arrived in U.S. 1870. First settled in Macoupin Co., Illinois. Hired by railroad and migrated to Superior, Nebraska. Lots of DUWE surnames in and around Iowa--are we related? Common first names: Bernhardt, Bernard, Henry John, John Henry, Christina, Elizabeth, Augusta, Archibelle, Don, Charlotte. Grandpa, the original from Germany, died in Davenport, Iowa from a buggy accident.
