My grandfather was born Edward Duell Cohen. He later took the surname of his step-father(Fisher). We have been trying to determine what relationship there may have been with the Duell surname. We don't believe his parents simply took this name at random. It would seem that there would be a connection to a Duell family. Edward Duell Cohen/Fisher was born in Meridian, Mississippi in 1872. His mother was Sarah Frances Riddlespurger. We only know that his father's last name was Cohen. We have not found the Duell surname in the Riddlespurger line although that still is a possibility. It is difficult to research the Cohen line with out a name for this man.
I would so appreciate hearing from anyone who may have seen any of these names in their Duell family.
