I believe I am also researching this family. Do you know if any of Nicholas Dudley's siblings went to Rhea, Tennessee? There seems to be so little information on the internet on the Georgia/Tennessee Dudley's.
I am researching Samuel G Dudley & Martha Sherrill whom I believe to be the parents of my 3rd great grand father Jesse Byrd Dudley b 1835 in Tennessee.
Samuel was born in Georgia but I don't know where. Samuel and Martha Sherrill were married in Roane, Tennessee in 1806.
I am thinking your Nicholas may be a brother to my Samuel. I have Willie, James and John as Samuel's children only by deduction and location not by any real evidence. I see you have the same or strikingly similar children listed as Nicholas' first 3 children. So there may be some connection here. In addition to Jesse Byrd, Willie, James and John I have for Samuel and Martha's children, Calvin Sherrill, Claiborn, Clarissa, Martha M
and Mary Frances.
The John Dudley I am referring to as a possible son of Samuel was b 1816 in Tennessee married Elizabeth. They had a child named William Reilly Dudley who followed the same geographical trail as my Jesse Byrd going to Arkansas, Missouri and finally ending up in Lamar Texas buried in the same cemetery as my Jesse Byrd also. Below I have included William Reilly's obit to see if you can tell if this may be the same family.

On the same stone with Willie A. Dudley. *There was a William R. Dudley whose application shows rejected for a pension from the State of Texas for service in the Confederate Army. Then his wife received a pension for his service under #43649. *From the records of Lamar #258 United Daughters of the Confederacy: Awarded Cross of Military Service on Nov. 24, 1911. He served as Lt., Co. F, 11th Regiment, 2nd Brigade, Missouri Volunteers. *THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, January 1, 1920. 'W. R. Dudley, an old resident of Lamar county, died at his home 482 Lamar avenue, at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He had been in failing health for some time and had been confined to his room about a week. While his illness was considered serious a few days before his death, he died rather unexpectedly. As soon as the change in his condition was detected a physician was summoned, but death ensued before he could reach him. Mr. Dudley was born in Hickman county, Tenn. March 29, 1839. In early childhood he moved with his parents to Missouri, and from that state to Bentonville, Ark. He remained in Arkansas until he attained his maturity, and married there, his wife, Miss Elizabeth Reed. After his marriage, he came to Texas and settled in Lamar county. His wife died in 1887, and later he married again, the second wife, who still survives, having been Miss Willie Cox. Two children born of the first marriage, who survive him are W. P. Dudley of Paris and Mrs. Lillie Bagby of ___, Ok. Three surviving children of the second marriage are Mrs. W. H. ___ [remaining obituary unreadable]'
