I'm looking for information on my 5x great grandfather Edmund Dudley (1782-1853) who was the first to article land in Leon (Conewango/Little Valley/Cattaraugus) NY in 1819. According to the History of Leon 1879, he came from Monroe county NY, before that he was somewhere in New England...either VT, CT, or MA depending on which census you're looking at. In the 1820 Little Valley census, and the 1830 Conewango census he's married. But in the 1840 census he's widowed and living with daughter Maria, and son in law Alexander Ross in Conewango. In 1843 he sold his land, and in the 1850 census he was age 70 living with Frederick Noyes family in Leon, NY. I'm looking to find what relationship, if any, Edmund Dudley had to the Noyes family. Listed in the household were: Frederick Noyes Betsy (Daniels) Noyes (Wife of Frederick Noyes) James Noyes (Child) Leonard Noyes (Child) St Clair Noyes (Child) Anna Noyes (Child) Sally Noyes (Sally Johnson, mother of Frederick Noyes) Mary Bigelow (Mary G Noyes, sister of Frederick Noyes) Edmund Dudley age 70 James Davis (unknown relationship) I have data saying his wife was "Sarah" but that's all I have - is it possible that his wife was Sarah "Sally" Noyes, the daughter of Dudley and Sally Johnson Noyes? I can't find any data on when she died or who she married but she was born between 1783-1791, Canaan, Grafton, NH. I hope someone out there will have some data on her or have some thoughts on my Dudley/Noyes family theory! I'm also posting this on the Noyes forum. Notify Administrator about this message?
